In order to treat pain properly, an exact diagnosis is first necessary. It should be as extensive as possible, for it is often difficult to quickly find the exact causes of completely different types of pain. Is the pain caused by a disc, by a herniated disc, or more likely by a vertebra? Is it merely temporary changes in the spinal column, or perhaps the beginning of (or already advanced) degeneration. Is there inflammation? What roll do the musculature and spinal column static play? Is the muscle tension yet a defensive function, or is it already an additional cause of pain?
