Pain. New Methods of therapy

Chronic back pain. New Methods of therapy

Pain is not fate.

The advances in the treatment of spinal column pain cannot hide the fact that many patients must still live with ongoing pain. Every third adult in Germany suffers from back pain; this condition has already become chronic for three million citizens. As a result, more than 100,000 intervertebral disc operations are conducted every year - not all of them with the results hoped for.

Patients often receive the hardly consoling announcement from their doctor that nothing more can be done, and that they will have to learn to live with the pain in the future. There is, however, ever-increasingly justified doubt concerning such prognoses, because thoroughly new methods of therapy exist which prevent pain from becoming a lifelong fate.
