3-D Spinal column measurement The three dimensional spinal column measurement is a new method of examination that is implemented without the use of x-rays for a preliminary diagnosis, and for checkups by spinal column problems, such as scoliosis (abnormal curvature of the spinal) and improper posture.
The optical measuring procedure determines the position and form of the spinal column in 0,04 seconds with millimeter precision and without radiation, and is a combination of modern video technique and data processing.
The skeletal frame is measured with a light grid beamed onto the body. X-rays are not necessary in many cases. A scale, a projector, a video camera, and a computer are used together with the device. The projector beams a parallel grid of lines on the back of the patient, and shows the any anomalies present. The scale registers the load differences of each leg.
Already during the measuring procedure, the doctor can determine the necessary leg length compensation. The optimal correction is simulated on an adjustable platform. Deviations from the plumb line, spinal column deformities, and rotation of the individual vertebrae to one another can be clearly determined.
The 3-D photograph is taken from a camera, fed into the computer, and immediately processed. The doctor can directly compare old and new examination results. Also, an objective follow-up checkup is possible, for instance, after chiropractic treatment.
Indication
- spinal column pain, displacement, and deformities
- tension-related headaches
- by recurring muscle tension of the spinal column and neck
Value
Because this is a gentle diagnostic method using a projected light grid, the treatment has no side effects.
Children with spinal column damage are spared the frequent exposure to x-rays (for instance during checkups). An exact observation of differentiated back pain therapy planning over time is possible.
