Intrathecal pharmacotherapy (use of medication in the spinal cord canal) In this procedure, a neuronal transmission (nerve conductor) is manipulated through medication that takes over the transmitting function (forwarding task). The standard is morphine. But other substances, such as local anesthetics, are also occasionally used. Principally, this therapy must be tested. The motor functions, tactical quality, and sympathetic reflexes aren't impaired through the occurring analgesia (pain interruption).
Indication
Chronic pain at the origin of the spinal column in the event of unreasonable side effects, or insufficient effectiveness through systemic pharmacotherapy (medicinal treatment with opioids).
