Osteoporosis. Injection of bone cement. Vertebroplasty/balloon-kyphoplasty. Features and benefits Value
This is a minimally invasive puncture method which can also be used to treat distinct vertebral deformities as a result of osteoporosis gently and with minimal risk of side effects.
Advantage
This gentle procedure usually requires only a brief inpatient stay. If desired, the treatment can also be implemented on an outpatient basis. Usually, an immediate and noticeable improvement in pain is achieved.

A coordinated physical therapy program can begin immediately following the procedure. Special attention is given to isometric muscle-building, as well as posture and movement training (back-training school).
Ability to work
All normal daily activities are immediately possible after the patient is discharged. Merely heavy lifting should be avoided for circa six weeks.
Sports
Swimming and bicycling in an upright position are possible after two weeks. Depending upon their degree and type of intensity, all other types of sport can gradually be reintroduced after six weeks.
Results
In concordance with international publications, a success rate of circa 85 percent is to be expected.
