How does Acupuncture work? Individual points of the body are stimulated as deep as the subcutis with needles in order to heal diseases or relieve pain. Particularly in pain therapy, success can be achieved with the help of acupuncture. During the traditional development of acupuncture, it was learned that there is a connection between certain acupuncture points and organs and/or bodily functions . Individual points on the body could be assigned to specific disease symptoms. It was noticeable that all the points assigned to the same organ were in line with one another. In total, there are twelve of these lines known as meridians . According to Chinese acupuncture theory, the person is then healthy when his energy flows through his body in a harmonious balance. Depending upon the symptoms, certain acupuncture points along the meridian can be stimulated. In this manner, nerves and organs can be directly influenced and the disturbed flow of energy can once again come into balance.
