Heat probe treatment of vertebral joints. Features and benefits. Value
Percutaneous thermocoagulation has the advantage of precision, as compared to pharmacological ablation (medicinal nerve suppression). In comparison to cryotherapy (freezing of nerves), percutaneous thermocoagulation lasts longer. It works for years, whereas cryotherapy works for only a few months.
Advantage
This is a minimally invasive procedure and can be conducted on an outpatient basis in our clinic. Despite advanced degenerative changes of the spinal column, this method of treatment can usually prevent the need for surgical intervention, i.e. spinal column reinforcement surgery. Medication can be reduced, and early mobilization of the patient is possible, in order to begin a precise physiotherapy program. Physical activity and the ability to work again usually return immediately following the procedure.
Follow-up
Immediately following the procedure, a stabilizing and isometric physiotherapy program can begin. Supplementary physiotherapeutic measures, such as electrotherapy, balneotherapy, or heat and massage applications can be combined as necessary.
Ability to work
Physical activity and work are once again possible immediately following the procedure.
Sports
Physical activity through various sports is possible shortly following the procedure.
Results
A success rate of over 85 percent is quoted in international publications.
