Selective percutaneous thermocoagulation of the dorsal root ganglion After the heat probe is inserted, the doctor verifies with the aid of a computer whether the probe is in proper position at the ganglion. This is followed by a perineurial pain-therapeutic injection (local anesthetic). In proper position, the tip of the probe is heated and the ganglion is coagulated.

- spinal canal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal)
- foramen stenosis (narrowing of the nerve root intervertebral foramen)
