That is often the right time for surgery By far the most frequent neurosurgical spinal column procedures were, up until now (next to open microsurgical procedures), endoscopic and endoscopic-assisted surgery on intervertebral discs. However, this method has been much improved in the meantime. In place of the previously standard endoscope, modern neurosurgeons now implement a much shorter - and narrower - tube in order to gain access to the spinal column: the so-called micro-trocar . This has the advantage of being as gentle as possible on sensitive back muscles by insertion of the trocar, which leads to quicker mobility following the operation. And the patient is spared from the buildup of distinctive scar tissue around the back muscles. The microtherapeutic procedure is ideally suited for major herniated disc cases and bony constrictions of the spinal canal.
