Modern spinal surgery means: gentle and micro-therapeutic intervertebral disc removal When even minimally invasive spinal procedures, such as the spinal column catheter treatment, or the intervertebral laser treatment, are out of the question, it no longer means automatically that the patient has to undergo surgery. Neurosurgical operating procedures on the spinal column have changed decidedly in recent years.
With modern microtherapeutic procedures, skin penetration of a mere few millimeters is sufficient to remove herniated discs (even those hidden in the nerve root canal) with the help of a micro-tube (technical term: trocar) and a 3-D microscope. Already two hours after the procedure, the patient can usually get up again. And office work and light physical activity can begin again after one to two weeks; certain sports already after three weeks.
