Acupuncture and homeopathy Millions of people in Germany undergo acupuncture treatment every year. The majority of pain clinics include acupuncture in their catalogue of treatment. Until recently regarded with
suspicion as an outsider method, acupuncture has developed almost into a gentle standard of therapy for chronic pain.
In an extensive study of over 45,000 patients, clinics under the supervision of the Munich University Clinic Rechts der Isar investigated the effects of acupuncture.
The first results revealed: over 70 percent of all patients with head, back, and joint pain were effectively treated by acupuncture. The effectiveness, documented by participating doctors, was by more than 50 percent of patients good; by 20 percent even very good. Interestingly: the pain-alleviation of acupuncture took effect already after six treatments.
